Auditions for “Quartet” coming up end of February. Want a gander at the script?

A review-only copy of the “Quartet” script has been left at the Reference Desk at the Robbins Library in Arlington Center for anyone who would like to see it.

Auditions to be held on Thursday, Feb 26 at 7PM and Saturday, Feb 28 at 1PM.

Call backs will be Saturday February 28 at 3PM.

QUARTET by Ronald Harwood  |  Directed by Dayle Ballentine

Performance dates: June 12, 13, 19, 20, 2015 @ 8PM; June 14 & 21, 2015 @4PM.

This is a lovely play, warm, witty, very funny, but not without some “tough” moments as it looks at the aging process in general. Cecily, Reginald and Wilfred are retired opera singers who often worked together during their active careers. They now reside in a home for retired musicians in Kent, England. When Jean, who used to sing with them, arrives, she disrupts their equilibrium and refuses to sing. But the show must go on!“Four feisty old troupers make us laugh a little, sigh a little and cry a little, as they take us into the bitter sweet world of facing up to age and mortality.” The Independent

Actors will be asked to read sides for their auditions. It is strongly suggested that you are familiar with the script.

Rehearsals will be Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays evenings starting April 30, 2015.

CAST/ROLES : TWO MEN, TWO WOMEN, AGES 65+

Cecily Robson: A soft lady who is also a little “soft” in the head, as she is suffering from the early stages of dementia.

Reginald Paget: A sophisticated gentleman with refined taste in all things, clothes, music, etc.

Wilfred Bond: The opposite of Reginald physically, yet every inch the “artist”. He is larger than life, slovenly, and very much the lothario.

Jean Horton: Jean is slender and frail at this stage of her life but that doesn’t hide her “Diva” demeanor. She dresses and acts like the “Grande Dame” of opera, as she was in her day.
