Nine in one corner, four in the other: “Quartet” cast is announced and ready to go

Evelyn Corsini reports…

We’re happy to announce that we’ve cast four seasoned and very talented actors has the aging opera singers in Quartet, a wonderful play about performing, aging, friendship, and music.

Returning to AFD are:

  • Lis Adams as Cissy,
  • Will Dalley as Reggie,
  • Paul D’Onofrio as Wilf,
  • and joining us for the first time is Susan Scannell as Jean.

Dayle Ballentine is directing this funny and touching play; Marian Desilets and Evelyn Corsini Alcorn are co-producing.

Members of the creative team are preparing to bring this show to life. The set has been designed by John Pease, Charlie Carr is the set tech, Charlotte Kelley is doing props and set dressing, Brian Rehrig is doing sound, and Cheryl Carter-Miller is our costume mistress. We are especially pleased have Mike Patterson, Bob and Maureen’s son, return to our theater after a long absence to share his lighting expertise.

Quartet | June 12 – 21   2015

Quartet is a lovely piece, full of humor and heart. We meet Cecily, Reggie and Wilfred as they reside in a home for retired opera singers in Kent, England. Each year, on the tenth of October, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie,  arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva and refuses to sing. But the show must go on in this funny and poignant play. Quartet is an unabashed vehicle for four feisty older troupers whose task is to make us laugh a little, sigh a little and cry a little, as they take us into the bittersweet world of facing up to age and mortality.
