What’s all this about Peter Allen and Boy from OZ, anyway?

The musical tells a great story, based on the fascinating life of songwriter and entertainer Peter Allen. It had a great run on Broadway a couple years ago, featuring the fantastically talented Hugh Jackman.

Now AFD has the New England premiere! with our own cast of greatness.

Hear from the actors themselves in these videos. See you there, opens April 1!

We have our own Ozzie

We’re lucky enough to have a dialect coach for our production of “Boy from Oz” — that Australian language can be tricky, after all.

Simon Horsburgh was born and raised in the inner suburbs of Sydney, Australia, Simon is a native speaker of “Strine.” He has performed in The Christmas Revels in Cambridge for the past five years, and has sung with numerous choirs including Boston’s Back Bay Chorale and Christ Church, Cambridge Evensong Choir. He and his wife have lived in Arlington for 18 years, where together they raise their 2 boys.

Here he is with our own celebrity sighting, Mark Manley. Read more about Mark’s visit to our rehearsal! And get your tickets soon! This is the New England premiere of this show, folks…

And the Boy from Oz himself

The production features Peter Allen — as a boy, a man, a singer, a dancer, a songwriter, and an actor. The Good Friend Thom  Hardy is wearing out his shoes taking on all these roles. We all send him big hugs and best wishes!

And the wonderful ensemble and cast…

And… our directors!

Many long hours from these talented folks: Jim Grana directing, Rachel Roccoberton choreographing, Mario Cruz music directing, Ginger Webb producing…

Liza Minnelli and Judy Garland

For reals, folks. Caroline Keener and Janet Ferreri are hitting it out of the park as these two. Great performances.
